ARTIST STATEMENT & BIOGRAPHY

Alexandra Ogungbemi (formerly Alexandra Hutan) is a contemporary realist painter whose work explores the profound intersection of technical precision and organic life. While her foundational years were spent mastering the stark, disciplined world of graphite and charcoal, her recent evolution into oil painting has added a new dimension of light, color, and atmospheric depth to her portfolio.

Ogungbemi’s artistic path is one of rediscovered passion. After attending a specialized arts high school, she took a hiatus to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering. This period of technical study, rather than detracting from her art, instilled a rigorous analytical eye and a dedication to structural integrity that now defines her aesthetic.

Upon returning to her studio, she spent years rebuilding her practice, initially gaining recognition for hyper-realistic portraits and wildlife studies. Today, she merges that engineering-grade attention to detail with the fluid, timeless tradition of oils.

Known for her ability to capture the "unseen" details, Ogungbemi treats every subject—whether a human portrait or a silent creature of the wild—with a deep sense of reverence.

"Art is a return to form. My background in engineering taught me how things are built; my art explores why they matter."
